Successful candidates will have an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 and supporting Microsoft Server technologies. The candidate will be able to work effectively in a complex environment with limited supervision. Good communications skills are required; keeping management informed of risks, problems and current status of systems. The successful candidate will proactively maintain, support, monitor and be responsible for optimizing all server hardware and software throughout the enterprise.
Essential Job Functions: Support a multi-site Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 organization in order to meet and maintain appropriate service levels. Administer and support Active Directory, DNS & Microsoft Exchange replication. Responsible for planning, testing, tuning, configuration and setup of Microsoft Exchange architecture as well as supporting common email applications (Outlook, OWA, Blackberry based email). Manage the appropriate setup of applications hosted via Microsoft Exchange or reliant upon Microsoft Exchange. This includes, but is not limited to Blackberry services. Maintain appropriate documentation on the Microsoft exchange environment. Provide a point of escalation and support to the Desktop Support Services Group. Provide 24/7 on-call support for the e-mail environment. Participate in weekend maintenance activities, as required. Perform general system administration duties in a Windows Active Directory environment. Monitor Windows 2000/2003 (and beyond) servers and troubleshoot problems. Support, maintain and administer third party applications. Produce appropriate documentation for application deployment, configuration, and related processes. Work as a technical resource on assigned projects. Install and configure and maintain server operating systems and repair server hardware. Manage network system backups and provide a comprehensive disaster recovery plan for E-mail services. Limited travel will be required to remote facilities for hardware deployments and system upgrades. Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing and response. Perform routine preventative maintenance on all hardware on a routine and scheduled basis. Position is expansive and additional responsibilities can be added.
Experience Required: Must have a minimum of 4 years working experience and intimate proficiency with Microsoft Exchange 2003 (or beyond) administration and troubleshooting in a multi-site environment. Must have a minimum of 4 years working experience and expert knowledge of Active Directory administration and troubleshooting. Exchange 2003 to 2007/2010 migration experience. Must have 5 years working experience supporting, maintaining and administering core Microsoft technologies including Windows Server 2003. Sound working knowledge of Internet/Intranet technologies including security features. Sound working knowledge of network infrastructure and operations, including switching, routing, Ethernet, TCP/IP. Sound working knowledge of remote access technology. Proficient and familiar with MS Office Professional Suite including the ability to fluently use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working experience of Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005/2008. Excellent customer service and telephone skills. Must have good verbal and written communications skills. Must have very strong problem solving skills. Must have a minimum of 5 yrs of business experience and/or a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or an equivalent combination in education and work experience
