Location: Northern Alberta

Description: • Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Area Leader will be accountable for meeting reliability and availability targets that support the Power station’s goal of maximizing availability and reliability and minimizing costs. • Is responsible for the capital and operating budgets, for compliance with environmental standards, and for supporting Maintenance safety strategies when work is done on production area equipment. • Works closely with the maintenance & operations team to ensure maintenance and production strategies are aligned and successful. • Full time, permanent position

Responsibilities: • Create long and short-term production strategies to achieve targets for reliability and availability for the assets in the production area; these strategies will include allocating budget for equipment maintenance, establishing and making visible performance measures, and determining the capital investments, which need to be made in the area. • Interfacing with the customer on a routine basis regarding budget & production variances, LRP strategies& production risk identification. • Ensure the resources required for implementation of the reliability and availability strategies are made available. • Will sign off on the completion of projects and action plans when satisfied with the result. • Will make final decisions affecting the operating cost production of the units. • Manage key relationships with customer, service leaders and other plant production areas. • Ensure the plant delivers the specified commodities, (Power, Steam, Air, Boiler feedwater) as per contractual agreement between the company and its customer. • Actively participate with SCM to pursue advantages for driving down costs of parts and services. • Actively participate with Major Maintenance in the optimization execution of boiler outages through strong cost control measures and risk management. • Acts as the investigation lead of all high risk events impacting safety, environment or production targets.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in maintenance or operations of thermal power plants. • 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate. • Demonstrated ability to set and manage financial commitments. • Demonstrated ability to create and implement strategic plans, and to lead cross-functional teams in realizing those strategic plans. • Excellent analysis and problem solving skills. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build key relationships with stakeholders.
