POSITION TITLE: Architectural Technologist / Coordinator LOCATION: Concord, Ontario DURATION: Full-Time, Permanent

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Our client provides professional design and consulting services in planning, engineering, architecture, surveying, and project management. They are currently in need of Junior & Intermediate CAD Operators to join their team. Their company promotes a rewarding and challenging work environment as well as competitive compensation packages. The successful candidate will work closely with our business units to fit the needs of our internal and external clients in providing various CAD and graphics support. The position will include work on a variety of designing and drafting tasks, including, residential plans and details, preparation of site plans, and creation of cross sections.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Prepare conceptual design sketches and design criteria for single or multiple family detached, semi-detached or townhouse (condo or freehold) residential buildings. ? Review and establish or assist in establishing design parameters for design work to be carried out in-house or by outside consultants. This will include: - The review and implementation of applicable zoning standards. - The analysis of "M" plans to establish all building design envelopes. - The review and implementation of current O.B.C. requirements. - The review and implementation of architectural design standards. ? Prepare a fully coordinated set of architectural working drawings from approved designs on computer. This will include revisions to existing working drawings as required. ? Review the following for coordination with working drawings being prepared: - Roof truss drawings - Engineered floor framing layouts - Heating drawings - Other applicable shop drawings ? Review brochure artwork for comment and coordination with architectural drawings. ? Review and comment on purchaser requests for customizing drawings. ? Communicate as required with office or site stony sales agents, Government Agencies and all associated consultants, in order to complete projects. ? Carry out periodic meetings and site visits for projects, in or out of the office, as required. ? Collect statistical data from completed working drawings, brochures and other project related documents and input them into computerized data base. ? Administer and maintain all project files and drawings as required. ? Carry out all responsibilities in a cooperative manner with all associated project team parties conducive to the successful completion of the projects. ? Carry out the above work responsibilities from Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.. One will also be required to work two Saturday's per month, for a minimum of three hours each. In addition, if overtime is required, it will be on a mutually agreed upon basis with your supervisor. ? Responsibilities will change from time to time. You may be asked to perform additional duties not listed above, at the discretion of the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

? Completed certificate or diploma program in Autocad drafting at a recognized college. ? 1 – 5 years of relevant experience. ? Candidate must be familiar with AutoCAD 2002 or higher. ? Must be familiar with preparation of grading and siting drawings. ? A registered O.B.C. identification number (BC1I+T) is preferred. ? Knowledge in residential working plans. ? Strong oral and written communication skills. ? Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented. ? Good problem solver with an ability to identify alternative solutions. ? Strong sense and commitment to CAD standards and procedures. ? Ability to prioritize and respond to the needs of several people. ? Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure. ? Ability to work with the following software would be considered an asset: AutoCAD Land Development, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map, Raster Design, MicroStation, AutoLisp, AutoCAD Visual Basic for Applications, MS Office, CorelDraw, Corel PhotoPaint, and Adobe Acrobat
