Manager, Market Development Grain Farmers of Ontario is the province's newest and largest farm commodity group representing Ontario's 28 000 growers of corn, soybean and wheat. This is a remarkable time for Ontario Grain Farmers as GFO merges three producer associations into one: Ontario Soybean Growers, Ontario Corn Producers' Association and Ontario Wheat Producers' Marketing Board. GFO is seeking a highly creative Manager, Market Development to join their team in Guelph, Ontario. This essential role plays a vital function in the growth of GFO and providing benefits to the Ontario corn, soybean and wheat industry and all stakeholders. The focal responsibility is to broker market development information and relationships promoting opportunities between Ontario corn, soybean and wheat growers; grain elevators; processors; seed companies; educational and financial institutions; government; stakeholders and industries both locally, nationally and internationally. Key Abilities, Qualifications and Requirements • The capacity to assess the requirements of stakeholders, analyze opportunities and facilitate strategic opportunities for linking members with the goal to creating mutual beneficial partnerships. • A proven ability to direct an overall marketing and strategic plan, programs and corporate communications related to Market Development. • This highly challenging and creative opportunity requires knowledge of the Bio-economy and its related sub sectors; for example, bio-energy, bio-chemistry, bio-fuels and bio-products. • An awareness of the wide integrated scope of the value chain as it relates to corn, wheat and soy and the ultimate delivery of products and services and the brokering of this information between all relevant participants. • It is an advantage to have a thorough grasp of government programs, research initiatives and the linkage of these to the end use of products from corn, soybean and wheat. • The ability to execute, plan and administer a business development and marketing budget. • Having the professional proficiency sit on and participate within industry and association boards and/or committees and attend conferences globally. • University or College graduate in a related field with experience in a Business Development and Managerial role. • Strong understanding of the Ontario agricultural industry • Superior communication, presentation, interpersonal and relationship building skills. • Flexibility to travel extensively and willingness to work outside of normal office hours as circumstances dictate.
