Work ~ Life Balance in Kitchener The Kitchener Market is an 80,000 square foot facility located in the heart of downtown Kitchener. Several components of the new strategic plan are being implemented and an exciting transformation is now evident. The upper level of the Kitchener Market is open five days a week and includes a successful international eatery and merchant vendors. In June 2009, Kitchener Council approved a 2,500 square foot multi-use facility (The Market Place) that will include a commercial kitchen for cooking demonstrations and research is underway to determine the feasibility of a full-time ‘Mini-Market’. The lower level is home to the renowned Farmers’ Market drawing over 12,000 visitors each Saturday. The Farmers’ Market is a proud tradition and has become a part of the city’s cultural identity and is rooted in our natural and human heritage. To carry us forward in this exciting direction, we are seeking the following … Manager, Kitchener Market Working with the Director, Business Development to drive the strategy, you will be responsible for sustaining the new direction by overseeing day-to-day operations of the facility including vendor/tenant management, emergency planning, maintenance and custodial services as well as the strategic direction of The Market Place, special events and festivals, and the proposed Mini-Market. Using your strong communication skills and community spirit, you will build and foster relationships with downtown business groups, neighborhood associations, and stakeholders. You will also draw from your business, management, and marketing expertise to oversee annual budgets, supervise staff, and create and implement all marketing, promotion, and business development strategies for the facility. Your three or more year degree/diploma in business, marketing or a related field is supported by at least four years’ related experience including multiple tenancy management, proven success in developing and managing strategic relationships and partnerships along with knowledge of facilities management, accounting principles, and commercial food handling techniques.
