Job Description: The selected candidate will be responsible for directing the sale of Pioneer® brand products in an assigned geographic area from Windsor to Peterborough. Develop area tactics to implement sales programs, strategies, and policies in line with Company goals. Perform direct sales activities as well as provide leadership, vision and management of assigned sales personnel.

Duties/Responsibilities: Sales Force Management and Development: Manage employee performance through the establishment, communication and clarification of expectations. Hold individuals accountable for meeting established performance standards. Coach individuals to enhance selling success, differentiate products and services and build relationships. Continually evaluate individual performance and provide feedback. Recruit, select and retain a high-quality professional field sales force to meet customer and Company needs. Will also assist Account Manager with sales rep recruitment. Continually teach new and better ways to meet the needs of the customer. Ensure that all individuals in the area have the necessary technical skills and information needed to meet expectations. Create an environment that fosters learning and motivation of employees. Facilitate and support demand creation.

Selling: Build and manage account relationships, including key accounts. Direct selling assigned customers and prospects. Maintain productive relationship with internal DuPont Crop Protection (CP)partners. Identify customer and prospect opportunities in each individual district and establish a plan to capitalize on those opportunities. Manage and coordinate support resources needed to enhance sales in the area.

Technical/Agronomic/Service: Maintain a thorough knowledge of Pioneer products and services. Keep informed of competitive products, practices and strategies. Assure a high level of customer service and technical competence within the sales force.

Sales Planning: Direct territory management activities to achieve the highest level of customer and prospect penetration and sales volume. Plan by setting goals, develop and implement tactics, evaluate/adjust activities as necessary to assure goal achievement with all assigned employees.

Other Management Functions: Understands customer needs and provide feedback to the organization on product performance, program effectiveness and competitive activity. Suggest improvements or alternative tactics to help achieve district and area goals. Continue to develop professionally by remaining current with new technologies, management innovations, sales management and sales force motivation. Maintain accurate documentation of plans, activities, and results.

Educational Qualifications Desired: Bachelors degree required. Knowledge or training in a specialized, technical or professional discipline such as Agronomy, Plant Science, Marketing, agri-business, Business Administration, or related field.

Competencies and Experience: Desired Experience: 8 years of Ag marketing or sales experience to include the management and development of employees and teams.

Demonstrated knowledge of: Selling methodology, tools and techniques. Pioneer products and services, awareness of CP products and services. Marketing and marketing tools and techniques. Competitive product/service offerings, local Ag markets, value chain and crop production practices. Environmental, regulatory, and stewardship requirements for various technology products. Budget and area financials. Company policies and procedures.

Demonstrated skills in: Coaching/developing individuals. Selling, negotiating, influencing, conflict resolution and handling objections. Using computer hardware software/intranet to generate reports, territory plans, inventory data, access PHI info and complete administrative duties. Collecting, interpreting and communicating market, customer and competitive data. Management of sales territory including supervision of personnel.

Demonstrated ability to: Build/maintain strong relationships with customers, key industry/market influencers, PHI and DuPont partners and teammates. Work effectively within a team environment. Lead and influence teams/projects and coach individuals in accomplishing defined objectives/goals. Understands the needs and values of partners and customers and to develop solutions to satisfy/retain. Get results by taking initiative, overcoming obstacles and finding creative solutions. Work independently with minimum supervision and operate within budget. Work in and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.
