(Please note: Position is located in Southeastern region of North Carolina, USA. A 4 year degree or equivalent is required)

SUMMARY:
Manager is responsible for the total operation of swine farm. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Training/developing of approximately 4 - 12 employees, implementing corporate personnel and procedural policies, land and nutrient management, controlling operating costs, providing a quality product to the farm’s customers.

Job requirements:

  • Minimum two years of college education or related experience
  • Must have organizational skills

  • Able to work as a team player
  • Demonstrated history of successful production

    TASK AND RESPONSIBILITES: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • All activities and processes related to farm management and operations are scheduled and performed in a timely and accurate manner, according to all standard procedures and policies set out by MB technical manuals.
  • Maintains the highest sustainable financial performance by controlling costs through budgeting, business and financial planning, and by tracking financial activity through P & L review.
  • Farm goals and targets are set, agreed with management, communicated to staff, achieved and reported.
  • Ensures the farm has strong leadership by filling the roles of leader, manager, fellow worker, coach and mentor by providing a positive professional image at all times.
  • Ensures that all staff is developed, regularly appraised, given challenges to succeed to the next level, counseled when necessary and given all the information, training and resources to perform their duties to the required standards, and prepare them for future roles.
  • Ensures regular two-way communication is maintained with all farm staff, management, other departments, external customers and suppliers, and to the local community to identify potential problems and initiate improvements.
  • Ensures the health, safety and welfare of all animals housed on the farm is maintained by using proven bio-security procedures.
  • Ensures the farm is operated in an environmentally responsible way ensuring practice of approved land and nutrient management techniques.
  • Ensures all Human Resource functions relating to farm management are handled in a timely and appropriate manner; these will include: compensation, benefits, legal requirement (EEO, Sexual Harassment, etc.), time cards, vacation and leave; accountable for compliance to Federal, State, local government laws and regulations.
  • Ensures the farm working environment is safe, by providing training and ensuring use of proper safety equipment, and taking action to prevent hazardous conditions and meet Department of Labor OSHA requirements.
  • Monitors and managers all equipment, machinery and vehicles not assigned to an individual or a section is accounted for and kept in full operational condition through documented preventative maintenance routines.
  • All documentation, manuals, policies, procedures and other paperwork is kept current, and is available at all times to any staff that have justifiable need for it.
  • Ensures all farm records are kept up to date, monitored, and reported on time.
  • Monitors farm appearance. Ensures grounds are neat, clean and orderly at all times.
  • Incumbent will be responsible for understanding and complying with company EMS policies and procedures in the performance of their job duties.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned by management.
