Job Description: Scope •Together with the NA ESH team – set Goals and Objectives for the ESH team (ESH Generalist & Site techs) in Canada •Responsible to implement, maintain and improve the ESH Excellence Program and Monsanto Procedures and Programs as well to support the sites to be in compliance with the Canadian and/or provincial ESH regulations, to ensure continuous improvement •All ESH site Contacts/Techs will turn to the Regional ESH Generalist to answer any ESH questions or concerns •ESH Generalist scope includes all the Crops (Canola, Corn, Soybean) and functions in Canada (R&D, Manufacturing, Commercial, Regulatory, Administration) for full time employees, seasonal workers, contractors and guests •Travelling up to 50% of the time to support 15 sites / site teams across Canada •To support the implementation of the Office Safety and Workplace Health Programs in all the sites and crops (R&D, Manufacturing, Commercial, Regulatory, Administration) •ESH Generalist is part of the Canadian Staff team and participates in the ESH Strategic Planning development, ESH programmes for Canada and for the decisions that affects the entire region for ESH issues •The Regional ESH Generalist has a direct communication with the regional Management team and with the NA ESH leads
Main Purpose •Continuous Improvement of the Environmental, Safety and Health performance at all sites in Canada, that means reduction in the number of recordable incidents, No fines from legal requirements, Safety culture improvement •Management of the ESH programme (collaboration with ESH site techs) in Canada, ensure the implementation of the EA ESH Excellence Program, the Monsanto ESH Procedures and Programs at all Crops and sites •Promote and improve the networking among the sites in his region and sharing of best practices •Be a solution provider and be able to recognize gaps in early stage to take the proper preventive actions Principal Duties and Responsibilities •Implementation (execution, evaluation and control) of effective and proactive Safety programs to improve the hazard recognition to prevent incidents occurrence •Be a supporter for Behavior change based on the education and coaching process at the sites (STOP program in breeding – new GLOBAL Incident Reporting system) •Ensure the Monsanto procedures and programs compliance at the sites •Support the sites to meet the Local Regulations Requirements and the Monsanto Fundamental Requirements •Enhance the team work process, the best practices exchange and internal – external benchmarking •Supply effective feedback for Continuous Improvements Process to the sites using the Internal Audits / Crosschecking •Interfacing with regional/site leadership (site managers), NA ESH teams and NA ESH leads •Develop the ESH techs for future opportunities. •Be a link for internal benchmarking of best practices sharing among the region/sites
Education & Experience •Bachelor of Science Degree preferably in Environmental Safety and Health, or Agricultural Engineering •5+ years of experience in Environmental Safety and Health Monsanto recognizes that their greatest assets are their people.
